We were staying at the beach overnight. Hoping for a spectacular sunset, we stationed ourselves at the best vantage point facing west. There was the sun setting over mountains on the main island across the channel, and there were clouds. But not much color. How disappointing—until I turned my head and caught a glimpse of the glory BEHIND us in the eastern sky! Pink and red and breathtaking beauty. We almost missed it because we were looking where we assumed it would be.
How often do I miss greater things than a sunset, just because I’m looking in the wrong place? Lord, open my eyes and help me to be aware of Your work all around me, especially where I least expect it!
